Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries before 2020 and all 7 continents, we have no plans to slow down anytime soon, and we are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

  • Looks like you guys had an awesome time, looks so fun!! Thanks for sharing 🤙

  • Two goofy "progressive types" trying to recreate a "route 66 Road Trip" - terrible. You two "over the top" would-be reality show hosts spent more time filming yourselves, that you did this historic highway, and it's numerous "niches." You never even mentioned. let alone displayed, a "Burma-Shave" sign. Whereas, LEAVING Washington state was the best part, you otherwise failed miserably in presenting a video about the very subject matter itself. I frankly, did react in a bit of laughter, however, when wacthing "Mrs. Moonbat" wearing sandals in the desert - something that nobody in their right mind would recommend. The only other entertaining portion was when, the ever-effemiNATE discovered that "motel" was a portmanteau - how very clever of you !!

  • Motels ppl usually access from the parking lot, hotel usually have many floors with elevators and usually internal corridors

  • I was told Motels were rooms with a bed and a bathroom, good for one night, and a Hotel is where you live, like its a house, with a kitchenette and amenities for staying a while.

  • it was always my understanding that a Motel was meant a very short term stay, like an hour up to maybe 28 hrs; and because of that provided fewer amenities and got the reputation for being 'cheap'. Hotels, on the other hand, were meant to stay in intentionally and for longer than a couple days and therefore provided more and higher quality amenities.

  • I'm a Brit and after a trip with a friend to the Grand Canyon one November to see the sunrise, we had to drive back to Las Vegas. I really, REALLY, wanted to drive back on as much of Route 66 as possible but we were simply too tired to do it. However, we did stop at 3:22 Seligman for something to eat. I think it was there that I made an observation about American food. Seligman is such a long distance (in British terms) from anywhere and I realised just how much American diner food was processed and came out of a freezer (and straight into a fryer), and how much remote communities depended on this type of food. I never really considered the availability of fresh food before until I was in a place where it was difficult to obtain it. I guess this explains a lot about the standard American diet. It was only when visiting somewhere that wasn't on the East or West Coast that I made this observation.

  • So cool! My husband and I drive Rt 66 from San Diego to about 1.5 hours west of Chicago (and back) a couple times a year. This last time, we drove it straight through (about 30 hours). It has previously taken up to 36 of driving time, not including stops longer than a gas station visit. This was very familiar!

  • Hey Kara and Nate, next time you are out west.... about 60 miles East of Phoenix on I-10 Exit 94 you will find The El-Dorado Hot Springs. It is a quirky little hot springs that is just awesome! They do have camping, so if you like to be naked in the Arizona Desert this is for you! Seriously, this place is just fantastic! I suspect that they would give you a free night or two for a bit of a promotion.

  • Hotels and motels differ in layout and construction. Hotels can contain hundreds of rooms and several floors; they generally have staircases, elevators and internal corridors that lead to the rooms. Motels commonly have a one- or two-floor layout and guests access their rooms directly from the parking lot.

  • In Europe MOTELS are the places for travelers or drivers. They are usually on the road, near a highway, or outside a city. There you just stop, sleep and move on on the next day. Sometimes these are the places you take a hooker or a lover, so that no one knows you, but this is another thing. HOTELS are the places in the city, there you can stay for longer time, have better accommodation, and are more expensive. A lot of them do not have a parking (parking in Europe is a luxury). MO-tel > move / HO-tel > home :)
